Tareq AlShumaimry is a scion of the highly respected and renowned AlShumaimry family in the State of Kuwait. He is a prominent businessman, activist, author, legal luminary and diplomat.

In 2013, he was elected as the Chairman of the Financial Committee of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in the Hague, The Netherlands. The PCA, established by treaty in 1899, is an intergovernmental organization providing a variety of dispute resolution services to the international community. PCA provides services for the resolution of disputes involving various combinations of states, state entities, intergovernmental organizations, and private parties.

He is currently the Chair of the Budget Committee of the PCA and also an Observer of the Administrative Council of the PCA comprising of 124 member countries.

He is the Minister/Counsellor at the Embassy of Kuwait in The Hague, The Netherlands.
